Do you want to be a scientist for one day? In May, We offer free excursions to observe the families of marmots
Within the research for 'The vertebrate community high mountain', CREAF (Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications) is studying the families of alpine marmots who live in La Cerdanya.
With the higher temperatures due to climate change, understanding the relationship of these species with their environment and among them is very important for their conservation. On the other hand, what happens to the species of the Pyrenees is one of the best indicators of what might happen to other populations of the same species elsewhere.
Therefore, this research is aimed to find out what the effect on climate community marmots is and how they react to changes in the territory.
CAMPUS CERDANYA sponsors this project since its involvement with the region and the environment and that is why the hosted families in Campus Cerdanya will have the chance to go with the CREAF research team to observe the marmots.
During these outings, you will take part in a real scientific project which studies the marmot families who live in La Cerdanya. You will have the chance to see how scientists work and observe the marmots’ behaviour. If we are lucky, you’ll see how they’re captured and labelled.
